Research Assistant
Gabrielle Haggins is a first-generation doctoral student in the Department of Education Policy, Organization and Leadership, with a focus on Higher Education. Along with her role at OCCRL, she serves as a research and teaching assistant.
Gabrielle's research encompasses two primary strands. First, she explores global education, examining cultural and communicative barriers to educational equity both domestically and internationally, with a focus on how Black faculty members teaching abroad impact cultural awareness and global perspectives. Second, she examines the intersections of identity and socialization factors that shape the experiences of Black women in graduate education and early academic careers. Through these research endeavors, Haggins aims to contribute knowledge that positively influences the growth and worldview of individuals from diverse backgrounds, particularly people of color.
