Engage, Educate, Empower
The Office of Community College Research and Leadership (OCCRL) is offering critical-cinema stories designed to stimulate minds and bring forth candid conversations. Candy, pizza, and popcorn will also be a part of the Friday flicks, which will occur twice a semester at the College of Education.
The first featured film is the Emmy-nominated No Greater Odds, a Film by Patrick Wirtz.
No Greater Odds follows the inspirational stories of five community college students at the College of Southern Nevada. Barbara, Carlos, Jaklin, Monique, and Tyrone each struggle with complicated family issues, financial difficulties, and other personal obstacles as they seek to better their lives and futures through higher education. It’s a movie that challenges misconceptions, ignites passion for higher education, and shows how important community colleges are in the context of higher education.
