Pathways to Employment: Translating Research to Practice and Policy

This session will address the “Structured Pathways” track. The objectives of the session include the following:

  • Engage in an overarching question: How can 21st century community colleges thrive (i.e., sustain successful programs) while protecting the educational equity, access, and success of diverse learners.
  • Discuss importance of labor-market relevant competencies and industry recognized credentials.
  • Present models of industry-recognized credentials with respect to on- and off-ramps via apprenticeship programs and/or stackable credentials.
  • Address challenges and implications of CTE programs moving from traditional face-to-face into online modules and the impact on diverse learners.

The panel members include researchers and a community college president.
