Community Colleges and Actualizing Access in a Burgeoning New America

Dr. Eboni Zamani-Gallaher

Community colleges have long been considered institutions that promote access, increase opportunity, and promote success for diverse student populations. As the backbone of postsecondary pathways, two-year institutions and the students they serve have only recently been at the center of the higher education discourse. In her talk, Dr. Zamani-Gallaher examines the importance of community colleges in advancing the American Dream amid the changing face of America. She illuminates the realities of the changing demography and the stratification of educational opportunity in the current college completion era, highlighting the necessity of community colleges in providing on-ramps that serve divergent learners and sectors.
