Employer Engagement in Community College Programs

Speaker Information:

Debra Bragg, OCCRL; Judith Alamprese, ABT; and John Colborn, ASPEN

National Council for Workforce Education 2015 Annual Conference

Employer engagement is recognized as instrumental to the design and delivery of community college technical programs. The increase in technical programs and credentials resulting from the Department of Labor’s TAACCCT program has prompted interest in the roles played by employers in community college technical programs. This session will examine employer engagement from three perspectives: the policy and programmatic contexts affecting employer engagement, the activities that employers have carried out in technical program development and delivery and facilitating students’ attainment of jobs, and approaches to evaluating employers’ engagement in college technical programs. This session will draw from the experiences of TAACCCT grantees.
