Dr. Raquel Farmer-Hinton is an associate professor in the Department of Educational Policy and Community Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Her research, teaching, and service interests include educational inequities, the urban context in which many of these inequities exist, and the school communities that educate within these inequitable contexts. Her noteworthy projects include investigations related to college-going cultures in urban high schools, social capital toward college planning for urban students, best practices used in nonselective college preparatory schools, and the role of promise scholarship programs toward college planning. Dr. Farmer-Hinton currently conducts research on the college preparation of students of color in urban communities.
