- Kat Oertle, Research Assistant with OCCRL, will host the second webinar in a series of online conversations exploring Illinois' Programs of Study Guiding Principles and Design Elements. The February webinar session will include a panel discussion on promising practices and other aspects of access, equity, and opportunity in Illinois Programs of Study.
Panel Members
- Jona Bennett, Vermilion Vocational Education Delivery System
Jona Bennett has worked for 15 years within the Career and Tech Ed System as a Child and Day Care Services Instructor, Perkins Populations Coordinator and currently as Special Populations/Student Services Coordinator. Jona has been involved with various projects as a special education parent, such as Project CHOICES, which occurred at the initiative of inclusion. She has served as officers in several Special Education groups. Her education background includes Early Childhood, Elementary Education and Special Education from Eastern Illinois University and Southern Illinois University.
- Sue Walter, Illinois State Board of Education
Sue Walter is a Transition Consultant for the Illinois State Board of Education, Special Education Services Division. Prior to this new position Sue was the Training and Technical Assistance Coordinator for the Transition Outreach Training for Adult Living Project (TOTAL) and the Illinois Systems Change Transition Project, both federal transition grants administered by the Illinois State Board of Education. In this capacity, she developed a variety of transition-related training materials and has traveled around the state to reach educators, parents, students and community providers on topics related to secondary transition. Sue has presented at numerous workshops and conferences at the local, regional and national level. Most importantly, Sue is also the parent of a young adult with a disability and adds that perspective to enhance her work.
