Breaking Through

Overview

Breaking Through (BT) promotes an expanded and enhanced role for community college to access college by low-skilled adults. BT is uniquely important in its systematic integration of adult education, developmental education, career-technical education (CTE), and career planning and preparation in community colleges geographically distributed throughout the US. Through the creation of a variety of models, BT envisions contextualized and accelerated curriculum and instruction to assist low-skilled adults to progress through adult basic education (ABE) and/or developmental education to college credit course work, credentials and family wage-sustaining careers.

Goals
  • Evaluate how community colleges contribute to the development of pathways to connect low-skilled adults to college-level course work, credentials and family-wage employment.
