The Impact of Enhanced Retentions Service on Students' College and Careers Outcomes

Given the growing emphasis on community colleges increasing student persistence and attainment rates, it is of paramount importance for these institutions to understand which retention services are most effective at promoting student success. The results of our analyses show that, somewhat counterintuitively, retention services related to students’ employment and careers are the most strongly related to students’ persistence and attainment rates. In contrast, services such as academic advising have little relationship with the likelihood students will complete a program of study.
